More Than a Network

Building a Community for Tradeswomen

Finding Community

For many women working in the skilled trades, finding someone who understands their experiences isn’t always easy. Whether beginning an apprenticeship or building a long-term career, opportunities to connect with other tradeswomen can be limited.

The ConnectHER Skilled Trades Community Hub was created to change that.

Designed as a supportive online community, the Hub gave tradeswomen from across Canada a place to connect beyond their workplaces and classrooms – to ask questions, seek advice, celebrate achievements, and encourage one another through every stage of their careers.

Learning From One Another

The strength of the Community Hub came from the women who made it their own.

Experienced tradeswomen shared advice with those just entering the industry. Members exchanged mentorship opportunities, career resources, events, and practical insights drawn from their own experiences. Questions were welcomed, successes were celebrated, and conversations reminded members that they were part of a larger community working toward the same goal.

As membership grew to more than 1,600 people across Canada, the Hub demonstrated a growing demand for connection, visibility, and peer support within the skilled trades.

An Online Community

The Skilled Trades Community Hub showed that meaningful support doesn’t always happen face-to-face.

By creating a space where tradeswomen could connect openly, mentor one another, and build lasting relationships, ConnectHER strengthened a national network grounded in encouragement and shared experience.

Sometimes the most valuable thing a community can offer is the confidence that comes from knowing someone else has walked the path before you and there are tradeswomen ready to help the next woman succeed.
